At Keep Madison County Beautiful, we believe that everyone deserves to live in a
clean, green, and beautiful environment. By conserving our resources and keeping our
landscapes free of blight, we not only provide green spaces that people and wildlife
alike can enjoy but keep communities safe and encourage economic development.
Keep Madison County Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful, a statewide
community improvement, litter prevention, and beautification organization. By
broadening our focus to include all of Madison County, opportunities to assist in the
community have multiplied for us. Keep Madison County Beautiful is also the parent
organization of Keep Midway Beautiful, Keep North Zulch Beautiful, and Keep
Madisonville Beautiful.
The Green Team started as a group specifically intended to police The Texas
Mushroom Festival for recyclables. This festival, held in Madisonville, Texas each
October, is one of more than 30 events in Texas supported by “Green Teams” whose
special aim is to help decrease litter and to enhance recycling opportunities at public
events in the community. Coca-Cola got us started in 2006, and Keep Texas Beautiful
continues to provide planning assistance.

The purpose of the Yard of the Month program is to promote goodwill and recognize
and support Madison County residents who
demonstrate exemplary efforts in maintaining their homes, their yards, their business to
enhance the overall appearance of the entire community.
The program’s judging is done by its volunteers from the Keep Madison County
Beautiful Committee.
For the months of May through September, the Committee will choose up to one yard
for residential property and one from the business community, per month, that
exemplify curb appeal and beauty, thereby contributing to the overall appearance of the
community at large. Community members may nominate those individuals they feel are
qualified for this recognition by emailing the committee at keepmcb@gmail.com

REPOTTING: After a period of time as plants are growing in their
containers they may become root bound. A few signs that the plant
may be root bound is yellow foliage, wilting shortly after being
watered or when roots start growing out of the bottom of the pot.
To repot, loosen the roots around the root ball and repot your plant
in a larger planter adding fresh soil and nutrients giving them
adequate room to grow.
